Latent infection and tissue hypoxia are two main causes of chronic inflammation in human disease. As shown in the figure below, infection, inflammation and hypoxia are linked, and each can eventually lead to cell malignancy. Team 16 studies infection, inflammation and hypoxia in the context of chronic hematological diseases. Our working models are MGUS, multiple myeloma, and myeloproliferative neoplasms.
